Abstract
Unexplained incidental intracranial hemorrhages on the lst postoperative day are very rare but this is a report of such a case due to the rupture of a hidden cerebral aneurysm. A 46-year-old female was scheduled for transabdominal hysterectomy
and
aneshesia was induced by 250mg of thiopental sodium and 75mg of succinylcholine followed by endotracheal intubation and maintained with N20/02 and enflurane. During the operation the blood pressure of this patients was maintained at a slightly
higher
level than her normal level.
On lst postoperative day she suddenly became comatose and light reflexes were absent. 30 minutes later, however, her vital signs returned to normal but she complained of severe headache, nausea and vomiting. A brain CT was done which showed
subarachnoid
hemorrhage. She died in the 3rd postoperative day due to further bleeding from a cerebral aneurysm.
